Proper nutrition is very important for the long term health of all fish. In my case, I am particularly concerned about the long term health of my Map Puffer, one of my prized marine carnivores. I feed my puffer and other carnivores a wide variety of frozen seafood from the grocery store, frozen formula diets, and occasionally freeze-dried foods. Although freeze-dried foods should never account for more than about 25% of a carnivore's diet, they are excellent ways to deliver vitamins (and medications) to your fish!
Remember, any fish that you expect to live a long, happy life (in my Map Puffer's case, 20-30 years if we're lucky!) will need to be fed at least a half a dozen different food types, as well as vitamin supplements. Fresh/frozen seafoods purchased from the grocery store shoudl comprise of at least 60% of a marine carnivore's diet!
If any of your readers are interested, SOSLightBulbs.com is running a pretty good deal on 14K Phoenix light bulbs for aquariums. It might save some folks a little money - and the lamps are really good if anyone knows about aquarium lighting they know the Phoenix name and the quality of the lamps.
