The nano aquarium lighting geniuses over at Nanocustoms, Chris and Clive, have cooked up another awesome retrofit for the popular Biocube 29 and Nanocube 28: a slick T-5 and LED retro with built in heatsink/parabolic reflectors that can be cooled with the stock hood!
The retrofit kit uses the awesome new UV VHO ultracompact T-5 bulbs running at 20 watts, and 12x 3 watt LEDs for some awesome nano lighting. Another great thing: the 20 watt T-5 VHO bulbs are sized to fit the Biocube 14, NanoCube 12, and other similar sized nano aquariums!
I'm a huge fan of LED lighting, as long as the LEDs are high quality models proven to produce the correct spectrum and enough PAR (such as the Cree XR models), and I'm definitely looking forward to the release of this retro, which should (hopefully) be any day now!
These retros are initially only sized for inserting directly into the stock hoods of the aforementioned all-in-one nano aquariums, but standard sizes are expected to appear soon after. (UPDATE: retros for all popular all-in-one nanos will be available soon as well). Projected retail price is $350. Stay tuned for more info, and thanks to Nanocustoms for all of their contributions to LED lighting!

Yep, Nanocustoms makes some sweet stuff, especially lately. I'm looking forward to their smaller LED pendants.
