We wanted to write a post letting everyone know a bit about reviews here at the Captive Aquatics blog. A few of our reviews have been getting quite a bit of traffic and controversy, so we thought we'd let you all know our ideals here.
The Captive Aquatics blog is not intended to make a profit. In fact, we have declined some offers for additional sponsorship, especially offers from aquarium product manufacturers. Let me tell you my reasons...
Captive Aquatics is growing faster than we would ever have thought (especially in this economy!), and I'd like to announce our latest partner: Southern Mills Custom Homes. Southern Mills is a premier custom home builder and renovator in the north Houston, Texas area. When they wanted to provide top quality and highly customizable aquarium design and installation, they chose to partner with Captive Aquatics. We're excited to begin work in the Spring, Texas and other areas with Southern Mills! Parnership details are here.

I'd like to introduce our latest author, Kyle Phillips! Kyle is a freshwater and reef aquarium hobbyist and breeder, and an ower of several unique biotope aquariums. He sits on the committe for his local aquarium society, and authors multiple aquarium columns. We're lucky to be able to offer his freshwater breeding expertise on the Captive Aquatics blog!

Although surprising in this economy, business has tripled as of late, leaving me with a big stack of aquarium products I haven't had time to review! I finally unpacked a few things today that I'm most excited about, and took a quick pic to let everyone know that yes, the reviews are coming, so sign up for our free RSS feed and weekly newsletter so that you won't miss out on the details!

The Captive Aquatics blog is in search of authors to post once-weekly about aquarium related topics. We need authors for the following categories, and are offering some catchy incentives!
We're a big fan of anyone that practices sustainable ecological principles in this hobby, and none more than Sustainable Aquatics. Offering a variety of captive bred clownfish species and morphs, Sustainable Aquatics takes things one step further with their Sustainable Islands project.
Teethwise Dental chose Captive Aquatics for aquarium design and installation in their new Humble, TX office. "We had a very specific look we wanted to achieve" said Dr. Lapido, "and Mike worked with our architect to make it look exactly how we wanted!".

We at Captive Aquatics care a great deal about ecology and ethics, and we're pleased to announce that we have yet another tank raised species to offer our customers thanks to Sustainable Aquatics and their Sustainable Islands program: the Clown Triggerfish. Available in 2-3" sizes, these captive raised triggerfish are boisterous, colorful, and have a ton of personality!

For those of you unfamiliar with the publication, Advanced Aquarist is literally the best saltwater and reef aquarium publication for those that have progressed beyond the beginner stage, and has even been cited and mentioned in National Geographic. Second only to WetWebMedia in terms of sheer quantity of information, and arguably tied for quality, I can't recommend this (free!) publication enough!

Captive Aquatics customers have expressed pleasure in the past about our ability to provide (much) higher quality livestock than any local fish store at a price no LFS or online seller can match, thanks in part to our several excellent supply partners, one of which I'd like to feature livestock from today: C-Quest Farms.
